20:20 evening game in at the Warminster army base. The format was everyone had to bowl 2 overs, which did not necessarily suit us. There was no equivalent restriction on the best batsmen hogging the crease, which always strikes your correspondent, speaking as a bowler, as unfair. In fact we were a man short any after Oborne did a relatively poor job of ensuring we had a full side.
Colin captained for the evening and did by all accounts an excellent job, while also starring with the bat, scoring 30 not out as we chased and narrowly failed to reach a target of 133. Dave Hewins, standing in at late notice, made a useful 25. David O'Connor's umpiring did not find favour with one of the opposition bowlers, who had a bit to say about it, but no harm done.
Earlier, Rick Gunning, with 3 for 8 off 3 overs, and Sam, with 1 for 1 off 2, both bowled outstandingly . But two of the Red Star batsmen made large scores and that was the difference on the night.
