Independent vs Horningsham

Independent September 2009

5 September 2009

No report. The following is from the Horningsham Newsletter.

The Independent dropped Angus Frasier from their squad to face us this year, which may suprising until you recall his dispiriting failiure to dismiss Paul Grugeon in 2008. Either that or memories of his own dismissal by David Ware in a woolly hat saw to it that he did not return. Despite that, the Independent were a much stronger team than last year, or perhaps we were overconfident. We were not too concerned as they scored 150, but we then failed to match it or even hold on for a draw. Three of our top batsmen fell hoiking an innocuous slow spinning to the long on boundary, including Angus Hilleary on 49. Your correspondent was so singularly determined not to make the same mistake that he was tamely LBW first ball to a straight half volley.
