Halverston vs Horningsham

3 July 2010

Horningsham and the Frome Incidentals combined forces to produce a team in which only two were fully fit; and one turned up on crutches. We didn't start too well, sliding to 30 for 3, but recovered well, initially through James Oborne, whose 91 included 6 sixes. He was joined by Damien Parker, who switched his crutches for a bat, and despite a damaged achilles tendon, still managed to score a fifty with the aid of a runner. After James was caught on the boundary and went off to make the tea, Damien was joined by Christy O'Connor who scored a punchy 20 not out before the declaration. The final score of 237 for 8 declared was a good effort.

In reply Halverston lost a couple of early wickets and decided to close shop, and very nearly managed to salvage a draw. The last wicket fell to Ian Lambert with only a couple of overs left. Ian and Paul Reynolds both took 4 wickets. Tom Oborne bowled well for 6 overs and also took a fine catch at mid wicket.
